THE GREAT SOUTHERN REEF

The Great Southern Reef isSARAH & SEBASTIAN's fourth cinematic endeavour in the Now You See Me short film series, diving into the deep connection forged between creative director Sarah Munro, filmmaker Alice Wesley-Smith and The Great Southern Reef.

Captured by the duo over a number of ocean dives, with narration from Alice, the film celebrates a plethora of species endemic to the southeast coast – from golden kelp to weedy seadragons and seals – whilst highlighting a confluence of threats confronting some of its most vulnerable enclaves, including rising sea temperatures and commercial overfishing.

NOW YOU SEE ME is a collaboration between SARAH & SEBASTIAN Co-founder and Creative Director Sarah Munro and ocean photographer, filmmaker and fellow scuba diving enthusiast Alice Wesley-Smith.

To share their love of the ocean and raise awareness around conservation issues close to their hearts, the duo travel to remote locations across Australia to document the precious marine life that inhabit these incredible underwater environments.

The short films series features original diving footage, compelling prose by writer Anna Harrison, and narrations by various voices connected to ocean conservation. Each film is designed to highlight the challenges facing our world beneath the waves and the importance of conserving Australia’s most vulnerable ecosystems.
