Piercing Aftercare
Your Aftercare journey begins at your piercing appointment, where you’ll receive a professional cleaning mist & guidance on how to care for your new piercing. We also share our Holistic Aftercare Protocol, offering naturopathic insights, including lifestyle and nutritional advice.
Within 4-8 weeks of your piercing, we recommend scheduling a complimentary Aftercare appointment to assess healing and discuss any necessary downsizing.
Our Ear Alchemy Ear Spa provides expert earring cleaning and care, refreshing your ears and revitalising your ear styling. This complimentary service is available as a standalone or as an addition to a piercing or styling appointment.
Aftercare Protocol
Clean & Care
Clean new piercings twice a day for approximately 4-8 weeks using NeilMed Piercing Aftercare. Dab off any excess from the surrounding area with a clean makeup remover pad or cotton tip. Whilst in the shower, rinse your ear gently with water to avoid any buildup of dirt or beauty products. Gently pat the area dry and avoid sleeping with wet hair to ensure minimal moisture build-up.

Opt for a diet low in processed sugar and refined carbohydrates—two common drivers for systemic inflammation—and high in whole foods, ancient grains and healthy fats, which boost immunity and cellular well-being. Add citrus fruits, green beans. leafy greens, nuts and seeds to your meals, which are rich in Vitamin C, Zinc, Iron and Silica.
Organic berries, pomegranate, flaxseed, spinach and dark chocolate are saturated with naturally occurring polyphenol compounds, which are known to accelerate healing and improve cartilage health.

Best Practices & Downsizing
An initial piercing is often installed with a longer jewellery backing to allow room for swelling. As the piercing heals and the swelling subsides, downsizing the length of your jewellery post to a shorter backing is essential to ensure optimal healing and reduce any risk of your jewellery bumping, catching.
During an aftercare appointment, we will assess whether a downsize is required. Your first downsize is complimentary, additional downsizes are $30 each. We recommend downsizing within 4-12 weeks following your initial piercing.
